Delete your Parks account

Open the app, go to Profile → Delete account, type the confirmation word and tap Delete. This removes your profile, dogs, photos, relationships and personal history, including any walking data a pre-release test version stored. It cannot be undone. De-identified park statistics remain.

If you cannot access the app, email hello@tryparks.com with the subject ‘Parks account deletion’. Include the email address of the Apple or Google account you sign in with. We will verify ownership before deleting it. Never send a password or sign-in code.

If you used Sign in with Apple, after deleting your Parks account you can remove Parks from your Apple Account’s Sign in with Apple list. See Apple’s instructions. This does not delay deletion of your Parks account data.

Common questions

Can people see where I am?

Other people can see that your dog is checked in at a particular park, and a dog is linked to its owner's display name, so a check-in can reveal that you are at that park. Nobody can see where you are within the park, on the way there, or anywhere else. Arrival notifications are worked out on your phone, and nothing is checked in until you confirm. See the privacy policy for details.

Does someone know if I mark their dog “avoid”?

No, and this is deliberate. There is no notification, no badge, and nothing indirect that could reveal it. The warning appears only to you.

Do I have to share my location?

Parks needs your location to show the parks near you; without it the app can't be used. Your position is used on your phone and is never shown to other people — they only see which park your dog is checked in at. Background location is optional: without it you won't get arrival notifications, and you check in from the app instead. Notifications are optional too.

I'm getting too many notifications.

Every park you follow has its own settings: which activity notifies you, a minimum number of dogs, and quiet hours. Open a park, tap the bell, and adjust. News and offers can be switched off in Profile. To turn every notification off, turn off notifications for Parks in your phone's settings.

A park's details are wrong, or it's missing.

Add a missing park from the map, or use “Report” on an existing one. Community moderators review submissions.

Someone is behaving badly.

Use Block to make you and them invisible to each other in both directions, Mute to stop their calls without blocking, and Report to tell moderators. For anything urgent or dangerous, contact the police — we are not an emergency service.
